We wanted to bring to your attention that there will be an increase on tariffs on March 4th. 25% on goods from both Canada and Mexico and an additional of 10% on Chinese goods. I do not know how this will affect building materials, but I am assuming it will and I am not sure how long this would affect the cost of material.
Â
During the pandemic we saw a huge increase in costs and shortages on building material, specifically on electrical supplies. One of the large reasons was that Mexico (who also struggled during the pandemic) supplied a large portion of the electrical panels and PVC conduit that the United States used for the electrical industry. Mexico had to increase the cost to consumers due to inflation and material shortages. Based on this evidence and past evidence, I believe that an increase in tariffs will have a negative effect on consumers.
We have seen how extreme inflation and shortages have affected everyone, due to the pandemic. Since the pandemic, I have been trying my best to stay current on the United States economics and global conflicts to understand the effects it will have on us (the consumer) and by keeping the customer, as well as myself educated by keeping everyone informed and my findings.

Here is the link to the article that talks about the March 4th increase in tariffs.
